Tigers Form New Commitee

The small turn out at the Eden Tigers Rugby League Football club's annual general meeting on Sunday certainly didn't reflect the huge success the club has had over the last three years. Perhaps it is more a reflection of the current tough economic times than of any recent on field success.

With three successive premierships the Tigers are certainly on a high and the wheels have been set in motion to continue this success. However with the retirement of Mark Miller as coach and a few senior players either retiring or moving on, perhaps the mighty Tigers are also headed for some tough times. But as long as the local community continues the fantastic level of support they have given the team over the last few years, then the tough times will not be to hard to bear and a new wave of success will come sooner rather the later.

The main agenda of business at the AGM was to elect a new board and committee. The new board is much the same as the old board with two notable omissions. Johnny Miller, the highly successful club president has stepped down from the position, but with a firm promise to continue his support in a less formal role. John Fletcher has also stepped down from the vice president role, with a similar promise to help out whenever needed.

The two Johns will be sorely missed as their level of commitment and tireless work ethic over the last few years has been a huge factor in the Tigers success. Anyone and everyone who has taken pleasure from the Tigers three straight premierships should give these blokes a big thank you the next time they see them. The next meeting will be held at 5 pm on November 30th at the Eden Country Club. The new board and committee are below.
