Cooma reserves suffer first defeat of the season

June 14th 2009-By Dave Evelyn

The Corey Stewart led Tigers reserve grade side faced up to the undefeated competition leaders Cooma in what promised to be a tough encounter, and so it proved. Cooma scored a couple of tries early to take the lead, but when evergreen Sugar Mongta inspred the side with some brilliance to score and convert the Tigers were back in the game. In a see-sawing game play went from end to end. Laurence Bamblett had a very good game and led the side around the field. Corey Stewart also had a huge influence on the match until injured late in the game. Jai Kristenthal also had a great game at fullback, and Kyran Crane kept things tight up the middle. Corey Walker had a huge game and inspired his team mates with some big hits in defence and also took the ball up hard all game. In the end the Tigers claimed victory by 24-22.
Forgive me if I am wrong but I think this is Michael Thompson showing an absolute perfect tackling technique close to his own line.

James Cartwright delivers a great ball and all tackle. It was defence like this close to the line that allowed the Eden reserve grade tigers to inflict the first defeat of the season to the more fancied Cooma outfit. The Tigers won 24-22
