The Michelin and Sons Eden Tigers reserve grade side lined up against premiership favourites Bermagui-Cobargo in Sunday's games in Eden. The Cobargo side have had a strong start to the season, but the Eden side were confident of upsetting them. Cobargo opened the scoring early when they received an early penalty adjacent to the posts to take an early 2-0 lead. Andrew Evelyn , backing up from the 18's, scored Eden's first try after a good kick by Dylan Wheeler was spilt by the fullback and with the Bowes conversion Eden took the lead 6-2. Cobargo struck back immediately after a handling error from the Tigers and the scores were level at 6-6. Hooker and captain Matt Evelyn scored Eden's second try and with the conversion Eden took a 12-6 lead. Eden's forwards led by Wayne Wykes , were frustrating the Cobargo attack. In fact, the whole Eden defence was outstanding and managed to repel numerous raids by the visitors until they scored their second after a penalty and brought the scores back to level at 12-12.

It was Eden's turn to receive a couple of penalties and with the half time siren sounding livewire half Jamie Mohamed scored and Eden took a well deserved 18-12 lead into the break.

A big defensive effort in the first half appeared to have taken its toll on the Eden side . The visitors scored first in the second half after receiving a couple of quick penalties, and then in a spell of about 15 minutes Cobargo dominated possession and field position through penalties and turnovers, and ran in three quick tries to put the result beyond doubt. The Tigers then matched the visitors for the rest of the match but poor handling cost a number of chances and the score remained at 30-12 to the end.

For Eden Jamie Mohamed was very good, and Dylan Wheeler, Matt and Andrew Evelyn, Jacob Young and the indestructible Wayne Wykes were also outstanding. The side is confident that they will turn the tables on the Cobargo side when we play them again later in the season.
