Eden Tigers Brand Sun

Under 18's short again
Eden 12 Cobargo 26

Eden took on the Cobargo Eels on Sunday in the curtain raiser to the main game, Cobargo having forfeited in the reserve grade match. The Eden side started strongly and were unlucky not to have scored in the opening stages when the referee ruled a knock on over the line after consulting both touchies. Cobargo struck back and scored the first after being awarded a penalty . Eden's attack was pedestrian as they ran one out and were easy marks for the well structured Cobargo defence. Chris Chalker, Dylan Fletcher, Jamie Mohamed and Jamie McLeod were putting in huge efforts for the Tigers, while Aaron Aldridge, Jo Stewart and Pete Dunstan were also giving their all but the Eden side really didn't seem to have any plan or direction when in possession. This is a symptom of players not attending training.

By half time the Cobargo side had built a 18-0 lead. Straight after the break Cobargo scored after a questionable strip to extend their lead to 22-0 before Eden finally got on the board when elusive hooker Aaron Aldridge slipped across from dummy half. Fletcher's conversion was successful and the score was 22-6. Any chance the Eden side had to get back into the game was snuffed out when poor handling gifted Cobargo another try. With time running out the Eden side seemed to be gaining some confidence, and Fletcher crossed and converted to get the Tigers a bit closer. Another Eden raid saw Chris Chalker cross after a mid field bomb was taken by Andrew Evelyn , who was ruled offside and then given 10 minutes in the bin. The final score remained Cobargo 26 Eden 12.

This was another disappointing result, with the Eden players again matching their opposition in skill and effort, only to be outplayed by a more disciplined and well drilled side.
