Reigning premiers the Great Southern Inn Eden Tigers finally found some consistent form on the weekend when they crushed the under strength Pambula Bulldogs 54-0 at George Brown Oval. After a few early penalties the game opened up and the Tigers took control, with Shaq Aldridge scoring the first try out wide and Dylan Fletcher converting. Captain Coach Leigh Hennessy , who made a welcome return from injury, scored the next try which was also converted. Fullback Fletcher, who is playing some excellent football, posted the next try and converted. English import Greg Nicholson crossed late in the half to bring the score at the break to 24-0.
The second half began with Eden asserting their dominance with Shaq Aldridge scoring his second and WBH Smith converting. Talented young five eighth Joe Stewart was the next Tiger to cross for a try and smith's conversion brought the score to 36-0. Smith was next to score, proving far too big and strong for the tiring Pambula defence. Big Billy Michelin was the next name on the s core sheet when he scored and the Smith conversion took the score to 48-0. Joe Stewart completed the rout chasing down a kick to score. Neil baker converted to bring the final score to 54-0.
Best for Eden were Hennesy, Smith,Fletcher, Stewart and Michelin. Alan Aldridge did some good work in defence as did Wade Irwin, Baker and Nicholson. Credit also goes to the referee Damien Lindenberg who also had a very good match. The Pambula boys never stopped trying but were simply out gunned by a good Tigers outfit. Next week we head to Bega for a match that will give the Tigers a much sterner test.
