The Famous Four projectThe Famous Four project is designed to get kids using computers in the classroom. It is aimed at year 7 and year 8 students. It can be introduced under the guise of Information Technology as it includes teaching students to build there own web pages using HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). However students will be encouraged to develop a range of skills that they can use in any subject while at high school and can continue to use in their after school life. Differentiating InstructionThe Famous Four project is designed with differentiating instruction in mind as it can cater for all levels of student abilities. Those students with little prior computer experience and those who find the technical aspects of HTML and CSS challenging can still be fully involved in the research and presentation aspects of the project (and in the process be enhancing and developing their classroom computer skills) while the high acheiving students will be suitably challenged with the team management and technical aspects of building and overseeing a group web site development project. |
