Pambula defeat Reserves

August 2nd 2009

The Tigers reserve grade side lined up against the Pambula Merimbula Bulldogs in the second game of the day last Sunday. Both sides were guilty of early handling errors but The Bulldogs seemed to be getting on top early and scored first when Andrew Maher crossed and Matt Johnson converted for a 6-0 lead. Eden struck back quickly when Trent Crouch threw a deft pass to put Mick Wykes over for the Tigers.
The sides traded penalties and dropped possession until Aiden Aitken shoed his class to cut through the Tigers defence and score. The conversion from Johnson took the score to 12-4 at half time.

It is try time for the reserve grade Tigers against Pambula
Although the Tigers appeared to be outclassed they were still right in the game and stand in coach Sheldon Wykes urged them to lift intensity in defence and respect possession.
The Tigers did lift their game and completed their first three sets in the second half before young Aiden Aitken scored two quick tries to blow the score out to 24-4. Blake Russel scored a clever try from dummy half for Eden before Aitkin scored his fourth, Leigh Johnson and Brett Johnson added further four pointers for the Dogs. Squeak Russell was rewarded for a busy game with his second try off a Bamblett chip and the final score was Pambula 44 Eden 14.
