COOMA RUN OUT EASY WINNERS OVER DISSAPPOINTING BULLDOGS
Cooma 28 Merimbula-Pambula 14

The Cooma Stallions proved too strong for the Merimbula/Pambula Bulldogs at the back end of the game with three late tries to advance to the Grand Final with a 28 points to 14 win.

The match started well for the Bulldogs with centre Marvin Maher-Smith crossing twice to give the Bulldogs a 10 nil lead in15 minutes. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs basic mistakes got Cooma into the game. A knock on from the kick off saw Cooma with a scrum feed and from the 2nd tackle Zack Smith crossed by charging over some soft defence. The Bulldogs were always in good field position but lacked any direction and purpose with their attack to trouble the Stallions defence. Continually their attack went sideways and it was only the runs of Kieran Carmen and Kieran Warnock who actually straightened and made yards.

Right on half time the Bulldogs were on the attack and as they continually went sideways they provided the perfect opportunity for an intercept and Cooma winger John Sutcliffe grabbed onto a pass and sprinted 90 metres to have the Stallions trailing by 10 points to 8 at the break.

What ever happened at half time it was obvious that Cooma were far more focused and it was their half back Josh Tredigo who through a dummy and cut his way passed a couple of lazy defenders to score under the posts. Tim Williams converted and the Stallions led 14-10.

The Bulldogs then played their best 5 minutes of the day and it was Kieran Carmen who made three charges in the one set that saw the Bulldogs level the scores at 14 all..

From this point on though it was all Cooma and it was again an intercept this time to winger Tim Williams who grabbed a poor pass from the Bulldogs to score and followed it up with a great kick chase to dive on a ball in the in goal to again score before hooker Jake Schofield crossed from dummy half to see the Stallions easy winners 28 points to 14 and advance to take on the Bega Roosters in the 2010 decider.

They were best served by their half back Josh Tredigo and hooker Jake Schofield while centre Zeb Learoyd continues to impress.

For the Bulldogs Kieran Carmen was their standout in both attack and defence. Marvin Maher Smith was clever on his feet when given room while young lock Kieran Warnock put in another top effort.
