Eden 22 Cobargo 14

May 5th 2013 by Dave Evelyn

The Great Southern Inn Eden Tigers made the trip north to Cobargo last Saturday and brought a valuable two premiership points back down the highway after a solid win against the Eels. The Tigers took control of the match early in the first half with the forwards hunting as a pack and Eden's swarming defence held the large Cobargo pack at bay. Craig Wright scored his first try for the Tigers after Cobargo turned over possession with a kick out on the full. The Ian Smith conversion put the Tigers out to an early 6-0 lead which was short lived as Cobargo struck back with a try to level the scores. The sides slugged it out up and down the field with both sides having chances from penalties and handling errors, but the deadlock wasnt broken until just before the half time whistle when Eden's Toby Timms scored out wide to make the half time score 10-6 to the Tigers.

In the second half Eden scored two more tries with our popular imports Connor and Brendan (check with G White for their surnames) both crossing for tries which were converted while Cobargo also crossed for two unconverted tries to make the final score Tigers 22 Eels 14. Best for Eden were Dylan Wheeler, Toby Timms, Connor ? and Ian Smith . Tigers fans will have the luxury of two home matches in a row when the Tigers host Bega next weekend in what could be a season defining game, and then the following week a huge game against early premiership favourites Moruya.
