Reserve Grade Unlucky
Eden 10 Bega 22

May 12th 2013 by Dave Evelyn

The tigers reserve grade side showed some signs of brilliance but ultimately couldnt hold the big experienced bega side, going down 22-10 in a tough encounter. When Chris Chalker smashed over in only the second minute and the Matt Evelyn scored a clever try under the posts shortly after the Tigers lept to an early 10 - 0 lead and appeared to be fully in control. Bega managed to withstand the early Tiger onslaught despite a flow of penalties to the home side, and when Dennis Scott scored for Bega just before the break the score was 10-4. The first half was a very entertaining affair with Eden probably unlucky not to have had a bigger lead. When the second half began it was like a whole new game, with Bega dominating field position and possession, mainly through a flow of penalties. Bega scored two quick tries very early in the second half to snatch the lead. The Roosters enjoyed the lions share of possession in the second half on the back of a lopsided penalty count and the Tigers couldn't withstand the big Rooster forwards. The Roosters' Steve Luff scored a converted try in the final minute to seal a hard fought victory.

Thumbsy is a key forward for the Eden Tigers in 2013

The young Tigers performed with great credit and the final score of 22-10 was not an accurate reflection of their efforts.
